Detox means different things to many people, but it doesn’t have to be about harsh cleanses or skipping meals in the name of resetting the body. Instead, true detox becomes about supporting your system — while dealing with a full schedule.

After the excess of Christmas and new year celebrations, many women notice increased bloating and stubborn weight gain, because toxins like alcohol and sugar clog up the liver, which leads to stubborn fat. That’s where warm, nourishing meals come in, because they help to stabilise blood sugar like this delicious golden detox soup does. Unlike cold salads or restrictive “cleanse” meals, warming soups are deeply grounding, simple to make and easy to digest, preparing your body for a good night’s rest and repair. My golden detox soup was created with busy women like you in mind. It’s simple and made with organic ingredients that work WITH your body, rather than against it. Anti-inflammatory turmeric and ginger support digestion, while vegetables that are rich in fibre help to gently sweep the gut. So, whether you’re looking to reduce inflammation or simply enjoy a comforting, nourishing and detoxifying bowl of self care that loves you back and helps to shift fat, this soup is a powerful place to start!

Ingredients
(Serves 3–4)

  • 1 tbsp organic cold-pressed virgin coconut oil
  • 1 organic yellow onion, diced
  • 3 organic garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp freshly grated organic ginger
  • 1 tsp organic ground turmeric
  • ¼ tsp black pepper (which is essential for turmeric absorption)
  • 2 organic carrots, sliced
  • 2 organic celery stalks, sliced
  • 1 organic courgette, chopped
  • 1 organic cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 400ml organic vegetable broth
  • 1 ltr filtered water
  • 100g organic cooked red lentils
  • Juice of ½ organic lemon
  • Himalayan salt, to taste

Instructions

1. Heat coconut oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion and cook 2-4 minutes until soft (not browned), then add the garlic and ginger, and stir for 30 seconds.

2. Stir in the turmeric and black pepper, then stir for 20–30 seconds until fragrant before adding the carrots, celery, courgette and cauliflower. Stir the vegetables to coat with the spices before pouring in the vegetable broth and water.

3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
4. Stir in the cooked lentils and simmer for 5 more minutes before turning off the heat. Add the lemon juice and salt to taste before pouring into bowls and topping with more black pepper, if desired.

Handy tip: If bloating is an issue for you, then you can blend the soup for easier digestion. And if you pair this soup with a calming evening routine (like a 20-minute epsom salt bath), then you should sleep like a baby when you go to bed.

Enjoy!!!

Love, Gaynor x
