It was one serendipitous moment towards the end of the summer when, sitting outside the cricket club with a large glass of red wine, I saw Gaynor’s number. Knowing that I wanted to make a change to my health, my weight and my lifestyle — but not quite knowing how to do it — I decided to contact Gaynor.

In all honesty, I was really nervous before starting the B-Fit programme. I’ve always been quite good at exercising and I thought that I was eating relatively healthily. However, somehow, working more than 60 hours per week had consumed me — I had lost confidence in my appearance, my blood sugars were all over the place and I just didn’t feel like me anymore. I felt like a failure and it was hard to admit that I needed a bit of help to get me back on track.

During the first session, Gaynor made me feel comfortable enough to talk about all the reasons why I wasn’t happy with myself and what we could do to fix that — to help me to become the best version of myself. So, a couple of cups of herbal tea, a vision board and a list of foods later, I started a weekly programme of nutrition and exercise that very quickly began to transform my life.

I won’t lie — the initial set of body measurements that Gaynor took during the first session were hard to see in black and white. Also, I couldn’t quite comprehend at that point how I was going to stomach a smoothie first thing in the morning! However, with a bit of brain power, organisation and Gaynor’s guidance, I was soon immersed in my new eating habits and, more importantly, enjoying them!

Within a couple of weeks, my cravings had disappeared and I found that I was not constantly hungry. I felt better, healthier — and that was before my weight started to drop. I realised that in terms of food — and wine — I was completely converted! This has become a way of life that is enjoyable, not some fad diet that will not work in the long term. Over the Christmas period, I didn’t feel that I was depriving myself of anything — I even managed a few glasses of guilt-free champagne!

Alongside the nutrition support, the personal training sessions with Gaynor and Guy have been transformational. I always thought that I was quite good at exercise, because I go to the gym regularly. However, it’s true — you don’t know what you don’t know! I have discovered muscles in places that I never knew existed. Also, I found out that for years, I’ve been doing some exercises in ways that are not as effective as they could be.

Through the exercise sessions, I have gained more confidence, strength and, of course, an improved physique. More importantly, thanks to Gaynor and Guy, I have started to feel better about myself and more like the person that I want to be. I am also less stressed, I am sleeping better and I’m making more time to look after myself.

Now just three months later, I’m 24 lbs lighter and wearing jeans that I haven’t worn for 10 years! I am determined to continue on my journey. I have learned so much about myself during this time. My health has also improved with my blood sugars returning to normal. I am so grateful to Gaynor and Guy — and I know that they will continue to support and motivate me. The positive comments from friends about how much better I look are great to hear, too.
