4 HEALTHY HABITS TO ADD INTO YOUR MORNING ROUTINE

How do you start your day ? I honestly find that  my morning routine  is the most important and sacred part of the day. What we do in the morning  forms  the foundation for our self-care practice. These morning  daily rituals and habits  help us to  prioritize  not only our physical health but also our mental and spiritual  health, while setting us  up for a busy day ahead and enabling us to cope with whatever the day throws at us! These morning practices are remarkably vital for our overall well-being and health ,so in todays’s blog I am going to help you establish a morning healthy, well- being routine.

However, we are all different- everyone of us  is perfectly complex and unique and we have to find what works for us. We all have different genetic, dietary, physical and biochemical factors influencing our daily experience of health. Therefore, the best morning ritual for you will always be the one that is thoughtfully tailored to meet your individual needs and goals.

So my suggestions below are meant to inspire you to discover what truly works for  YOU when establishing a morning well-being routine. I have learnt over the last 11 years  of being a Nutrition Coach and Personal Trainer, that  self-awareness and consistency are vital for promoting long-lasting physical and mental wellness. Here are a few things I do every day as part of my daily routine to make sure I’m getting the best start to the day and looking after my physical and mental well-being:

1 Movement

Whether it is Yoga, a 20 minute weights or resistance metabolic conditioning session, power- walking, dancing  around the kitchen or gently stretching, -just ensure your body moves every morning . This will  not only help lead you into a more productive workday, but you will find this  movement  an empowering and enriching experience that  will greatly  benefit  not only your body but your heart, mind and soul too . Incorporating micro-movements throughout the day is a great way to enhance our health  and protect against disease

2 Mindfulness

A wonderful  way to honour our emotions and needs first thing upon rising is through the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness can be defined as “The practice of being aware of your body, mind, and feelings in the present moment, thought to create a feeling of calm”. An example of mindfullness would be :

On waking, sit in a relaxed posture.Close your eyes and take three deep, nourishing breaths. Ask yourself: “What is my intention for today?”  For example, “Today, I will be kind to myself; be patient with others, stay calm, have fun, eat well, enjoy my yoga , drink 8 glasses of water and have a relaxing magnesium bath before bed ” or anything else you feel is important!

Mindfulness can help you achieve clarity ,foster a clearer awareness of the endless actions of your mind while decreasing brain overload

3 Hydration, hydration, hydration!

Water is life! Our bodies and brain are mostly made of water  so hydration should always play  a major part in your healthy morning habits. While each person’s  hydration needs do differ, depending on various factors  such as how active you are etc, ensuring  you drink enough water ( preferably filtered ) is key to  achieving optimum health and well being

Don’t forget – Herbal tea and water based  home made smoothies  also count towards your water intake!  One of my favourite go-to morning smoothies is this GREEN SMOOTHIE  This green smoothie has become a staple in my morning ritual and one that I look forward to each day- its quick versatile, convenient and not only helps to hydrate me but hits my body with a load of vital nutrients every morning and prevents cravings!

4 Nourishing Food

Last, but never least, is food. Delicious, fresh and unprocessed foods that nourish our body are paramount to any healthy daily morning routine .As a nutrition coach , I perceive and embrace food as a magnificent, therapeutic tool of transformation that enables us to achieve optimum health and to B-Fit for life! Starting your day with he right nutritious food  will enable you  to bring out the best version of you each day!

These recipes can have the power to  help improve nutrient deficiencies, increase energy, restore balance and coupled with the right exercise and good quality sleep can help achieve your optimum size or weight  and generally help you feel fit and fabulous!
